Updates to the EU workshops & Link to Internship opportunities in European and International Organisations

Dear BSISers,

I would like to inform you that this Thursday, Marta Makhoul, who will be co-presenting the European Commission workshop, will also be briefly speaking about various employment opportunities within the European Commission.

The main focus will be on how to get a “Blue Book” internship at the Commission, but you will also learn about the Junior Experts in Delegation (JED) programme and Joint Research Center (JRC) traineeship.

For those that have already completed their draft application and would like Marta to help review their responses, please note that 3 out of 4 sessions are already booked and there is only one slot left from 19:00-19:30.

** I also received a very nice email from a BSIS student, Bailey Bollinger, who is American and managed to receive a work visa for an internship at the European Parliament. She would like to share her story with you and encourage you to approach Members of the European Parliament for an internship.

I also found a useful link that lists internships with the EU and International Organizations.

I hope that your minds have been freed up from paper-writing and you can start planing your next steps.

Best regards!
Mona

How to get an internship at the European Parliament?”  January 23rd in the Wilson Room from 15:00-16:00:

For those interested in the European Parliament, there is also a 4 month internship program (unpaid) that starts on May 1st (good timing for many). The deadline for this is February 1st. Please note that this internship is only open to EU citizens! For more info on those programs: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/aboutparliament/en/007cecd1cc/Traineeships.html

However, in the workshop you will also learn the “back door” into the offices of various MEPs which works for students of all nationalities and has a chance of being paid!

This is the most attractive internship program in Brussels and an excellent stepping stone to any EU career. This internship is also open to non-EU citizens, so please feel free to stop by and learn about this interesting and well PAID program.:-) I would like to encourage you to start the on-line application form and prepare all the documents you need before the workshop! You can save the application form as a draft until the workshop and learn what you need to do to increase your chances of making it past the first round.
