{"id":674,"date":"2014-06-19T11:26:07","date_gmt":"2014-06-19T11:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/?p=674"},"modified":"2014-06-20T14:56:42","modified_gmt":"2014-06-20T14:56:42","slug":"kent-fungal-group-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/2014\/06\/19\/kent-fungal-group-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Fungal Group Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/files\/2014\/06\/cwg_wt_image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-675\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/files\/2014\/06\/cwg_wt_image.jpg\" alt=\"cwg_wt_image\" width=\"177\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/bio\/profiles\/staff\/gourlay.html\">Dr Campbell Gourlay<\/a>, from the Kent Fungal Group in the\u00a0School of Biosciences,\u00a0has been successful in\u00a0attracting a\u00a0Wellcome Trust medical mycology and fungal immunology strategic award to increase our knowledge as to how mitochondria, an essential component of most eukaryotic cells, are involved in controlling the ability of two of the most common human fungal pathogens <em>Candida<\/em> <em>albicans <\/em>and <em>Candida glabrata <\/em>to infect and resist common treatment regimes.
