{"id":3749,"date":"2024-03-20T15:53:53","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T15:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/?p=3749"},"modified":"2024-04-09T16:03:46","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T15:03:46","slug":"kent-researcher-awarded-significant-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/2024\/03\/20\/kent-researcher-awarded-significant-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent researcher awarded significant funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Academy of Medical Sciences has awarded over \u00a36.6 million to 54 \u2018exceptional\u2019 biomedical and health researchers through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acmedsci.ac.uk\/grants-and-schemes\/grant-schemes\/springboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-interception=\"off\">Springboard<\/a>\u00a0scheme and one of these recipients is Kent&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/people\/1134\/beal-david\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-interception=\"off\">Dr David Beal<\/a>. David has been awarded \u00a3124,000.<\/p>\n<p>The grants support early career scientists to establish their independent research careers over the next two years. Springboard provides awards of up-to \u00a3125,000 to help newly independent biomedical scientists to launch their research careers. Along with the funding, Springboard recipients benefit from the Academy\u2019s mentoring opportunities and career development programmes.<\/p>\n<p>This latest funding round brings the total investment of research leaders through Springboard to over \u00a336 million since the scheme began in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The programme assists researchers across the full breadth of biomedical science, from molecular biology through to public health.
