The School is requesting\u00a0volunteers to aid\u00a0with their studies.<\/p>\n<p>In the School\u2019s Tsaousis lab, the new research project will be examining how a certain\u00a0microorganism can affect the gut microbiome diversity\u00a0and its impact on gastrointestinal health.<\/p>\n<p>Gut microbes\u00a0have been linked with many aspects of health and are an exciting,\u00a0emerging field of research. For example, some\u00a0organisms previously considered disease-causing, may be beneficial to our gastrointestinal health. This research project will investigate the presence of these microbes and their\u00a0role in human health and disease.<\/p>\n<p>The School is calling for volunteers, mainly\u00a0in the Kent area, to provide stool samples for analysis as part of this project. The results of this research could have a massive impact on our\u00a0understanding of gastrointestinal health, with potentially exciting impacts on the future of health studies.<\/p>\n<p>Requested volunteers include\u00a0multiple eating habits (meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans)\u00a0and individuals with various gastrointestinal disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
