The purpose of the RAPID group (ResistAnce Pathogenicity and Infectious Diseases) is to provide a hub for multidisciplinary research in various aspects of infectious diseases (Prophylaxis, Diagnosis, Pathogenicity, Pathogen Biology &amp; Evolution, Drug Development and Drug-Resistance) and especially encourage links between academics, clinicians and enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>The new group plan a Launch Day on 8th July from 11.00 &#8211; 18.00 in Stacey Lecture Theatre 1, at which a series of eminent guest speakers have agreed to participate:<\/p>\n<p>Dr Paul Horrocks, Keele University Medical School<br \/>\nDr Darius Armstrong-James, Imperial College<br \/>\nProfessor Fritz Muhlschlegel, William Harvey Hospital<br \/>\nProfessor Miles Carroll, Public Health of England<br \/>\nDr Helen Bright, MedImmune<br \/>\nDr Peter Nicholls, Dean KentHealth<br \/>\nProfessor Mick Tuite, Acting Head of School, Biosciences<br \/>\nProfessor Alistair Mathie, Sciences Faculty Deputy Dean<\/p>\n<p>There will be a chance for students,researchers to display posters of their work during the day.<br \/>\nA logo competition has been announced, the challenge to all researchers is<br \/>\nto design a\u00a0winning logo for the new group.
