The 2015 National Student Survey has once again recognised the School of Biosciences as one of the very best places to study in the UK, with all of our degree programmes attaining top ten positions in the UK for the second year running. With an overall student satisfaction rate of 96%, the School was ranked third out of 79 institutions for Biology, sixth out of 60 for Biomedical Science, and seventh out of 54 for Biochemistry. Our degrees ranked in the top ten in individual categories of the survey, including academic support, learning resources, assessment and feedback, academic support, personal development, and organisation and management. Additionally, all three degree programmes were in the top 10 for “average satisfaction”, the measure that takes into account all 23 questions in the survey.
These results follow the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF), which placed the School of Biosciences in the UK top 10 for research intensity. Coupled with Kent’s status as a top-20 university, these results confirm the School of Biosciences as one of the UK’s premier centres of learning and discovery and an excellent place to study the biological sciences.
