Professor Dan Mulvihill picks up the reins as Biosciences Head of School from January 2020
Professor Dan Mulvihill is taking over from Professor Colin Robinson as Head of the School of Biosciences this month. Dan will build upon the hard work and successes of this predecessor to guarantee the ongoing success of the School. Dan has a wealth of experience and is excited by the challenges and rewards that the new leadership role will bring.
Dan joined the School in 2003 as a BBSRC David Phillips Research Fellow, and since then has led a successful research group and engaged enthusiastically with research-led undergraduate teaching. At the same time he has fulfilled various roles across the School (Deputy Head, Director of Research) and Science Faculty (Associate Dean for Research & Innovation), as well as sitting on various government-funded science research council funding panels.
In Dan’s own words: “I’d like to thank Colin Robinson and his team for the significant work they have put into the School and the collegiate atmosphere they have fostered. The collaborative culture within Biosciences is a major factor in the School’s success. It is through the tireless efforts of academic, support and administrative staff that the School is able to deliver a world-class research-led teaching experience to both undergraduate and postgraduate students alike, providing them with the tools to succeed in the next stages in their journey. I am passionate to ensure a research-rich environment continues to flourish within the School, and to support and enable all staff to undertake sustainable world-class research and teaching.”
