The Freedman Science Student Hub first opened to undergraduate students in September 2019
The hub was built for the Schools of Biosciences and Physical Sciences in response to student requests and feedback. It provides 24/7 access to study facilities close to main science buildings.
The lay-out of the building provides space for both independent study and group work. It comprises:
- An open-plan I.T. suite providing 30 PC workstations and 8 desks for personal laptop use.
- A digital group study space offering three group workstations for between 6- 8 people to work around and collaborate using one central monitor with keyboard.
- A centrally-managed, networked printer.
The building can be accessed out of hours using the Kent One pass. To activate, hold the card to the card reader on the right of the external doors until the light flashes green. This will need to be repeated every couple of weeks to maintain access.
