The School of Biosciences proudly congratulates Dr Ben Goult, Lecturer in Biosciences, on receiving a 2016 Research Grant from the Human Frontiers Science Program (HFSP).

The highly prestigious HFSP Research Grants are awarded to innovative and ground-breaking research projects carried out by interdisciplinary teams of scientists across the globe.

Dr Goult shares the $1.45million Program Grant with colleagues in the Netherlands, Singapore, and Canada for their project “Control of cell migration and polarity by a mechanosensory complex linking adhesion and microtubules”.

The 2016 competition for HFSP Research Grants was highly competitive. Out of 871 initial applications, only 32 projects were funded worldwide, an eventual success rate of 3.7%.  This is the first HFSP grant awarded to the University of Kent, it is hoped this will boost Kent’s international reputation further as a world class centre of excellence for research.
