Articles tend to be more specific in scope and often take less time to publish than books so you can identify current ideas and case studies. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559737&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition to the main Library Search, there are two main ways to access this type of information; using\u00a0 specialist bioscience databases as well as more general academic databases that cover multidisciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>General :<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/279\/scopus\">Scopus\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 multi-disciplinary database providing full text and abstracts (article summaries) for peer-reviewed literature.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/505\/scopus-ai\">Scopus AI\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>is a new feature included in Scopus, providing a new way and more intuitive of searching the Scopus database. Further help, including use of different features, is available on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/elsevier.libguides.com\/Scopus\/ScopusAI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Scopus LibGuide: Scopus AI<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/132\/google-scholar\">Google Scholar<\/a> \u2013 is a popular search engine to look for academic material including journal articles and books. They allow you to explore a subject area and find all the related areas of research.<\/p>\n<p>The video below explains what they are and how to use them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JJOW2z9aHds&amp;feature=youtu.be\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-72 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences-library-guide\/files\/2021\/02\/mesh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Biochemistry<\/h4>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/277\/scifinder-n\">SciFinder N <\/a><\/strong>database for chemical literature for biochemists with access to substances, reactions and references in chemistry and related sciences. <strong>To use\u00a0you first need to<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/chain.kent.ac.uk\/login?url=https:\/\/origin-scifinder.cas.org\/registration\/index.html?corpKey=D53FC148X86F350ABX4F937F983014CAB71A\">register<\/a> using your @kent.ac.uk email address<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Biology<\/h4>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/41\/bioone\">BioOne<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>a database of biological, ecological and environmental journals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory\/389\/wildlife-and-ecology-studies\"><strong>Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>\u2013 access to over 2.5 million records, dating back to 1982<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You can also check out our<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library-it\/your-digital-library\/digital-resources-directory?subject=Biosciences\">digital resources directory<\/a> <\/strong>to find others that might be useful to your studies. You might want to use databases from other subject areas if you research is inter-disciplinary.
