Student and staff consultation has shown that there is overwhelming support for improved systems to enable automated attendance capture.
What have we done so far?
In Spring 2018 a small-scale pilot was carried out on the Medway campus during which we evaluated two methods of automated attendance capture:
- Card readers with KentOne cards
- Bluetooth beacons with an app on students’ mobile devices
We also evaluated workflows to identify students with very low attendance and case management tools for student support officers.
What we found out
Both the survey and pilot showed that students strongly prefer using their KentOne card rather than using an app.
