The theme of ATRC 2017 will be Ageing Populations and Actuarial Implications.

Ageing population has had a profound impact on long-term economic growth in many developed countries over the last half of the 20th century. It is also likely to continue to put pressure on the benefit-delivery and cost of social security systems. The effect will be compounded if changing population structure reduces asset returns below levels currently anticipated. The interaction between population structure, investments and returns will be of interest to long-term investors such as pension funds and life insurance firms, as well as to important stakeholders, including actuaries and policy-makers, all of whom are interested in the sound overall health of the financial services sector.

Although the focus of ATRC 2017 will be on Ageing Populations and Actuarial Implications, we encourage researchers from all actuarial disciplines to consider submitting proposals for talks at the ATRC.

We also look forward to proposals for talks on the latest developments in actuarial education.

Submission guidelines for proposing a talk:

A synopsis of the contribution needs to be submitted by e-mail to atrc@kent.ac.uk no later than 12th May 2017.

The synopsis should include name and affiliation of the speaker(s), contact address, title of the talk and an outline of its contents. The outline (no longer than 500 words) should give a succinct and adequate account of the talk’s purpose, methods, results and conclusions.
