The Athena SWAN team is pleased to announce that a set of proposals to enhance Kent’s Family Friendly offering have been approved and are now operational.
They are:
- additional leave and pay for parents of premature babies
- special leave for fertility treatment being a benefit available from day 1 of employment
- colleagues leaving the University within 3 months of their maternity leave ending will not be asked to pay back any contractual maternity pay
These proposals were based on ideas and feedback gathered through various focus groups, forums and Athena SWAN events. The full ‘wish list’ was quite long and so we took a pragmatic approach and focused on enhancements that would deliver the most impact for those affected within a manageable cost to the University.
