{"id":213,"date":"2018-02-13T15:28:12","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T15:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/?p=213"},"modified":"2018-02-16T09:15:51","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T09:15:51","slug":"p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/","title":{"rendered":"P0675 &#8211; SPIR Internship Module"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>P0675 is an opportunity to have your internship accredited and reflected in your degree transcript.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to source a minimum of 60 hours of relevant internship work.\u00a0It is the student\u2019s responsibility to find the internship, but you will have plenty of support from the School and University Careers Services<\/p>\n<p>Internships are also contingent on employers meeting certain health and safety requirements, and signing an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Internships can be paid or unpaid and can take place in either the UK or abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Entry by online module registration process and application via Moodle, and is dependent on gaining an appropriate internship.<\/p>\n<p>Support and guidance will be provided, with 1-1 support session and bespoke workshops for students on the module.<\/p>\n<p>Five workshops will take place in the Autumn Term, including sessions on experiential learning, skills development, portfolio building and graduate career planning<\/p>\n<p>Attendance at the workshops is essential.<\/p>\n<p>Assessment is skills-based and is by;<\/p>\n<p>Essay (2,500 words) \u2013 50%<br \/>\nPortfolio \u2013 35%<br \/>\nPresentation \u2013 15%<\/p>\n<p>In the past three years some of the internships have included;<\/p>\n<p>UN Women in New York<\/p>\n<p>UK Civil Service including SDIP, in Departments for Work and Pensions, Energy Conservation and Climate Change, and UKTI<\/p>\n<p>MPs (six), political parties, APPG, local government and councillors<\/p>\n<p>NGOs including Teach Malaysia, Tomorrow\u2019s People, CARA and a Chinese environmental NGO<\/p>\n<p>Placements in Malaysia, China, US, Greece, France, Ghana, Canada as well as the UK<\/p>\n<p>Module choices are made via OMR \u2013 opens 12th March for two weeks<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in PO675 then it is never too early to start planning for your internship, which can start as early as April 2018 (and must be completed by September 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Getting prepared; updating your CV, creating a LinkedIn profile, having a general cover letter ready and thinking about where you might like to intern are all good places to start<\/p>\n<p>Relevant volunteering counts too!<\/p>\n<ul class=\"kent-social-links\"><li><a href='http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/&amp;t=P0675 - SPIR Internship Module' target='_blank'><i class='ksocial-facebook' title='Share via Facebook'><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a href='http:\/\/twitter.com\/home?status=P0675 - SPIR Internship Module%20https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/' target='_blank'><i class='ksocial-twitter' title='Share via Twitter'><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a href='https:\/\/plus.google.com\/share?url=https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/' target='_blank'><i class='ksocial-google-plus' title='Share via Google Plus'><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a href='http:\/\/linkedin.com\/shareArticle?mini=true&amp;url=https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/&amp;title=P0675 - SPIR Internship Module' target='_blank'><i class='ksocial-linkedin' title='Share via Linked In'><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a href='mailto:content=https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/aspirations\/2018\/02\/13\/p0675-politics-and-international-relations-internship-module\/&amp;title=P0675 - SPIR Internship Module' target='_blank'><i class='ksocial-email' title='Share via Email'><\/i><\/a><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>P0675 is an opportunity to have your internship accredited and reflected in your degree transcript.
