A week of employer talks, panel events and career workshops for all students and graduates interested in working and freelancing in the creative industries, culture and heritage.<\/p>\n

Creative Careers: Year in Television and Online Broadcasting, Monday 7th<\/sup> March, 12noon -1pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you want to create eye-catching videos for television or online? Do you dream of a career in content creation or TV? Take your first step with this unique year-long programme based at professional television station KMTV, right here at the University of Kent. Our students build careers and are appointed to non-entry level jobs in industry. They go on to work on documentaries, technical roles, presenting and even interview A-list celebrities like Will Smith and Zendaya. Join Channel Director Andy Richards to find out how KMTV could open up opportunities for you, that once seemed out of reach.<\/p>\n

Creative Careers: Creative Access Showcase, Monday 7th<\/sup> March 5pm \u2013 6pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

A virtual high visibility event with a panel of creative professionals and alumni from Creative Access to share their creative journeys, what their current roles entail, top tips and guidance. This will be designed to appeal to\u202fall students, not only candidates from Black, Asian and diverse ethnic groups, disabled people or those from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds. Typically, this will be speaker introductions, panel discussion followed by Q&A.\u202fCreative Access will\u202farrange a representative to host 3 panelists including Creative Access and University of Kent alumni spanning the creative industries, with varying levels of experience.<\/p>\n

\nApril specialises in developing and managing inclusive, multi-disciplinary programmes for emerging creatives. She holds an MA in Arts & Cultural Management from King’s College London and has worked with a range of organisations including\u202fSomerset House, Tate, LIFT and Theatre Royal Stratford East.\u202f\u202fShe is committed to supporting diverse talent to flourish.<\/p>\n

Rami<\/strong>\u202f<\/strong>Kadri, Digital Marketing Manager \u2013 MUSIC
\n<\/strong>Rami\u202fis a Digital Marketing Manager with over eight years\u2019 experience in the music industry and runs her own digital marketing agency – Two Tabs Social. She has led on a number of ground breaking social campaigns including two of the biggest and most successful artist campaigns across the Sony Music group for Little Mix.\u202fMore recently she has worked with artists such as Ms Banks, Pa Salieu, Potter Payper, Loski and Ivorian Doll as well as companies including Warner Music, 0207 Def Jam, LiveNation and Since93. Rami studied Criminology and Social Policy at the University of Kent.<\/p>\n

Lydia Hamilton-Morl, Programme & Digital Editor, ITV News \u2013 TELEVISION
\n<\/strong>Lydia has spent eight years working in television news, travelling around the British Isles with ITV, after studying Journalism at the University of Kent. She currently produces ITV Border’s flagship six o’clock news programme,\u00a0Lookaround<\/em>, leading a team of journalists to create bold and distinctive TV news programmes and online content. She strives towards creating an inclusive workplace and providing her audience with diversity in storytelling.<\/p>\n

Alisha Artry, Neighbourhood Theatre Producer at Young Vic \u2013 THEATRE
\n<\/strong>Alisha is a Creative Producer from South London and advocate for change through the arts.\u202fShe has been working in Theatre since graduating from the University of Kent with a Drama and Film degree.\u202fShe has worked in Participation at the Lyric Hammersmith, Frantic Assembly and is currently the Neighbourhood Theatre Producer in the Taking Part department at the Young Vic.\u202fAlisha is the Co-Founder of the producing company\u202fSculptress<\/em>\u202fworking with talent to cultivate new and exciting stories to share with audiences.<\/p>\n

Rosa Furneaux<\/strong>, BA English and American Literature, now working as an Investigative Health Journalist, at the Bureau of Investigative Journalism<\/p>\n

Luke Chapman<\/strong>, graduated in 2020 with a BA in Music Technology and now works as a freelance writer, journalist and digital marketeer<\/p>\n

Jill Petts<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Graduated in 2015 with a BA in English and American Literature with Creative Writing, recently published her first novel \u2018White Scar\u2019.<\/p>\n

Jacky King<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0A first 500 Graduate with a BA in English and American Literature and published her first book \u2018A Cake for the Gestapo\u2019 in 2020.<\/p>\n

Our panel for the event consists of three Uni of Kent Alumni – Ben, Matthew and Bradley who have worked at companies such as Nintendo, Dovetail Games, Splash Damage & Electric Square in a variety of roles from Front End Engineer, Game Designer, Software Engineer and UI Designer. Also joining us is Terry a career changer who now works in 3D Technical Animation by day and volunteers with a gaming charity and works as a stream caster and host for the British Esports Association.<\/p>\n

Morgan studied both her BA and MA in English and American Literature at Kent. She is currently an SEO Executive at digital marketing agency Reflect Digital, having completed an internship there in 2021 through the EP Scheme. In this session, Morgan will share how she started her career in digital marketing without studying marketing, discuss the types of roles that are available in the digital sphere, and share her top tips on how you can get into digital marketing!<\/p>\n
