New Curators is a paid twelve-month curatorial training programme starting in September 2023 and based in London, for individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

WHAT?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Our course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, practical skills, networks and confidence needed to thrive in the curatorial profession.<\/span><\/p>\n Who?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n 12 people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to help diversify the curatorial profession. This is a post-graduate level training programme; we therefore expect applicants aged 21 and above. Individuals with a BA (Hons) are welcome to apply, although it is not a requirement if you can demonstrate equivalent and relevant work experience.<\/span><\/p>\n Where?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n New Curators will be physically located at the South London Gallery<\/strong><\/a> in its buildings in Camberwell and Peckham. \n<\/strong><\/span>covering essential topics such as writing for different audiences, public speaking, budgeting and fundraising<\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/span>meetings with a wide range of curators, artists and arts professions and regular studio, gallery and museum visits in the UK and internationally<\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/span>extensive practical experience working collaboratively on exhibitions, publications and public programmes<\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/span>participants will be mentored and have access to regular individual and group coaching sessions<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
