{"id":763,"date":"2015-01-30T12:37:48","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T12:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=763"},"modified":"2015-01-30T12:38:02","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T12:38:02","slug":"10000-bursaries-for-taught-masters-degrees-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2015\/01\/30\/10000-bursaries-for-taught-masters-degrees-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a310,000 Bursaries for Taught Masters Degrees Announced!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The University is pleased to announce that it has been awarded 177 postgraduate bursaries of \u00a310,000 each for students admitted to taught Master\u2019s degree programmes at Kent in September 2015.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are these bursaries for?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The bursaries are \u00a310,000 each for study on a taught Masters degree programme at the University of Kent.<\/li>\n<li>The bursary does not have to be repaid.<\/li>\n<li>The bursary will contribute to the cost of tuition fees for the Master\u2019s degree and any associated University charges (ie accommodation fees) with any balance awarded as a maintenance grant.<\/li>\n<li>Bursaries are available for full or part-time study (over a maximum of two years).<\/li>\n<li>Students must register for a taught Master\u2019s degree programme at Kent, ie an award of LLM, MA, MSc in September 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bursaries will be distributed in accordance with the following priority until all awards are allocated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>those who satisfy the eligibility criteria (below)<\/li>\n<li>on the basis of their undergraduate degree classification (First or 2.1)<\/li>\n<li>the date that all conditions of the offer are satisfied<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Allocations will be made by mid-July 2015<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants are likely to have to satisfy the following criteria\u2014these will be refined once further information is published by HEFCE:<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be \u201cHome\u201d fee paying (not Overseas or Islands);<\/li>\n<li>Be a UK permanent resident;<\/li>\n<li>Have completed a three-year undergraduate degree, which started in 2012 and finished in 2015;<\/li>\n<li>Have paid, or be responsible for repaying to Student Loans Company, the higher rate tuition fees in full;<\/li>\n<li>Have achieved a First or a 2.1;<\/li>\n<li>Have satisfied and demonstrated certain socio-economic criteria, to include either 1 or 2 below:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>a household income of \u00a342,620 or lower, and<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>either<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a) a family home postcode in an area of low participation in higher education (ie likely to have satisfied the current criteria for Kent\u2019s Financial Support Scheme),<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>b) currently be in receipt of a Disabled Students\u2019 Allowance,<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>be a care leaver;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Have made an application and been admitted for a taught Master\u2019s degree programme at Kent\u2019s Medway or Canterbury campuses or for a split-site programme at one of our European sites at Brussels, Paris or Rome<\/li>\n<li>Register for a taught Master\u2019s degree programme at the University of Kent in September 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application process is currently being finalised.\u00a0 As soon as the process has been confirmed, details will be published on this web page: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/postgraduate\/pg-support-scheme-2015\">www.kent.ac.uk\/scholarships\/postgraduate\/pg-support-scheme-2015<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The bursary cannot be held in conjunction with other funding except in exceptional circumstances and will not be awarded with any other funding from the University of Kent, for example the Alumni Loyalty Discount or Graduate School Scholarship<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University is pleased to announce that it has been awarded 177 postgraduate bursaries of \u00a310,000 each for students admitted to taught Master\u2019s degree programmes &hellip;
