{"id":552,"date":"2014-09-09T08:32:54","date_gmt":"2014-09-09T08:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=552"},"modified":"2014-09-15T08:57:16","modified_gmt":"2014-09-15T08:57:16","slug":"playing-identities-performing-heritage-funding-allocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2014\/09\/09\/playing-identities-performing-heritage-funding-allocation\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Playing Identities &#8211; Performing Heritage&#8217; : Funding Allocation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Playing Identities, Performing Heritage: Theatre, Creolisation, Creation and the Commons&#8217; is a two-year interdisciplinary collaboration between the Department of Scienze Storiche e Beni Culturali at the University of Siena, Italy (Principal Investigators), the Drama Department at the University of Kent, and four Academies of Dramatic Arts in Romania (University Babes-Bolyai, Cluj-Napoca), Spain (Institut del Teatre, Barcelona), Lithuania (Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Vilnius) and the UK (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Margherita Laera, Lecturer in Drama and Theatre, was involved in developing the proposal for &#8216;Playing Identities, Performing Heritage&#8217; from its early stages and will be responsible for Kent&#8217;s contribution to the project. The\u00a0School of Arts\u00a0is also delighted to announce that it will be recruiting a 0.2 Research Assistant for 22 months\u00a0to participate in the project\u00a0starting in early spring 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to investigate how theatre and performance might contribute to the production of new &#8216;creolised&#8217; European forms of identity and heritage by promoting artistic residencies in which acting and directing students in the participating academies collaborate cross-culturally, and by fostering audience participation through an online platform called PanSpeech. The project will culminate in a cycle of Creole Performances which will be presented at a festival in Siena in the summer of 2016.
