{"id":5076,"date":"2022-04-14T11:52:10","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T10:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=5076"},"modified":"2022-04-14T11:52:10","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T10:52:10","slug":"kent-alumni-celebrate-olivier-awards-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2022\/04\/14\/kent-alumni-celebrate-olivier-awards-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent alumni celebrate Olivier Awards success"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article__content\">\n<p>Four\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/subjects\/drama-and-theatre\">Kent drama<\/a>\u00a0alumni, who set up the theatre company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.littlebulbtheatre.com\/\">Little Bulb<\/a>, are celebrating after taking home the Olivier Award for \u2018Best Family Show\u2019 on 10 April for their production of\u00a0<em>Wolf Witch Giant Fairy<\/em>\u00a0at the Royal Opera House, Linbury Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Based in the southwest of England, Little Bulb is comprised of\u00a0former Kent drama students Alexander Scott, Clare Beresford, Dominic Conway and Shamira Turner who founded the company in\u00a02008. Two more former Kent students \u2013 Miriam Gould and Erasmus student Eug\u00e9nie Pastor \u2013 are amongst the company\u2019s associate artists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/540\/thompson-jayne\">Jayne Thompson<\/a>, Acting Head of the University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\">School of Arts<\/a>\u00a0said: \u2018Huge\u00a0congratulations\u00a0to Little Bulb \u2013 bravo!\u00a0We are all absolutely delighted, excited and proud that this truly talented group of Drama at Kent alumni have won the Olivier award.\u00a0This is a great moment to celebrate their fabulous work and thank them for their continued generosity supporting our students here at the University.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning show\u00a0<em>Wolf Witch Giant Fairy<\/em>\u00a0is described as \u2018a wild folk opera of music, mischief and magic\u2019.
