{"id":4920,"date":"2021-10-19T12:33:44","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T11:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=4920"},"modified":"2021-10-19T12:33:44","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T11:33:44","slug":"new-multichannel-composition-wetlands-by-aki-pasoulas-receives-its-world-premiere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2021\/10\/19\/new-multichannel-composition-wetlands-by-aki-pasoulas-receives-its-world-premiere\/","title":{"rendered":"New multichannel composition \u2018Wetlands\u2019 by Aki Pasoulas receives its World Premiere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electroacoustic composer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/22\/pasoulas-aki\">Dr Aki Pasoulas<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Music and Audio Technology, saw his new multichannel composition \u2018Wetlands\u2019 receive its World Premiere performance in St Petersburg, Russia, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/epicentroom.p-10.ru\/ru\/events\/247-pro-stranstvo-vol-3\">Epicentroom International Audiovisual Festival<\/a> on 13 October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Aki&#8217;s composition was commissioned by the SoundLapse research team in Chile, and it is based on field recordings of urban wetlands around the city of Valdivia.<\/p>\n<p>Wetlands are transition zones between dry land and aquatic environments. Urban wetlands add pressure because of the proximity of human activity to the natural ecosystems. This composition explores a dialogue between sounds living, moving and interacting in those spaces, creating tension and release moments when meeting human-made noise and activity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Wetlands&#8217; was realised as a 36-channel ambisonic composition.
