B. Kitaj at the <a href=\"https:\/\/iiclondra.esteri.it\/iic_londra\/it\">Italian Cultural Institute<\/a>, next Friday 3 July 2020, 4-5pm.<\/p>\n<p>The talk will be part of a regular seminar and reading group devoted to the work of Aby Warburg (1866\u20131929), a prominent German art historian and cultural theorist who founded the Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek Warburg.<\/p>\n<p>Edgar Wind (1900\u20131971) was a German-born art historian and philosopher. He was the author of the famous book <em>Pagan Mysteries in the Renaissance<\/em> (1958), but was also passionately interested in modern art and played a mentoring role to the young Kitaj when he was a student at the Ruskin School in Oxford.<\/p>\n<p>Edgar Wind has been a focus for Ben\u2019s research. Ben previously worked as a research assistant for Margaret Wind, Edgar\u2019s wife. His book <em>Edgar Wind and Modern Art: In Defence of Marginal Anarchy<\/em> will be published later this year by Bloomsbury Academic.<\/p>\n<p>The event is open to all and free of charge.
