{"id":3765,"date":"2020-06-12T10:16:45","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T09:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=3765"},"modified":"2020-06-12T10:16:45","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T09:16:45","slug":"drama-student-sophia-lyons-wins-canterbury-festival-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2020\/06\/12\/drama-student-sophia-lyons-wins-canterbury-festival-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Drama student Sophia Lyons wins Canterbury Festival Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Sophia Lyons, currently studying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/114\/drama-and-theatre\">BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre<\/a>, who has won this year&#8217;s Canterbury Festival Music Prize as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/music\">Music at Kent<\/a>&#8216;s annual prize-giving.<\/p>\n<p>The Canterbury Festival Music Prize is awarded to recognise a student&#8217;s outstanding contribution to extra-curricular music performance at the University of Kent. Sophia is co-winner of the award this year, with Tom Wust (Business and Management).<\/p>\n<p>Sophia&#8217;s prize is given in recognition of her outstanding performance as Alice in Kent Music&#8217;s recent production of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2020\/05\/01\/online-screening-of-alice-in-wonderland-a-musical-dream-play\/\"><em>Alice in Wonderland: A Musical Dream Play<\/em><\/a>. Sophia has also sang with University Chorus, Chamber Choir and Cecilian Choir, including the challenging role of singing the opening solo verse to launch the University Carol Service to a packed congregation in Canterbury Cathedral in December 2019.
