{"id":3320,"date":"2020-03-05T13:07:02","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T13:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=3320"},"modified":"2020-03-05T13:07:02","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T13:07:02","slug":"will-wollen-to-narrate-production-of-peter-and-the-wolf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2020\/03\/05\/will-wollen-to-narrate-production-of-peter-and-the-wolf\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Wollen to narrate production of Peter and The Wolf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/543\/wollen-will\">Will Wollen<\/a>, Lecturer in Drama and Theatre in the School of Arts, will narrate a production of <a href=\"https:\/\/thegulbenkian.co.uk\/events\/university-of-kent-camerata-prokofiev-peter-and-the-wolf\/\"><em>Peter and the Wolf<\/em><\/a> to be performed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/thegulbenkian.co.uk\/?start_date=&amp;end_date=\">Gulbenkian Theatre<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday 8 March 2020.<\/p>\n<p><i>Peter and the Wolf<\/i> was composed by Russian composer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Sergey-Prokofiev\">Sergei Prokofiev<\/a> to introduce children to the instruments of the orchestra while the narrator tells a children&#8217;s story. In this production, University musicians and alumni come together to perform one of the great orchestral fairy tales, telling the story of Peter and his friends the bird, duck and cat, the grumpy grandfather and the big bad scary wolf.<\/p>\n<p>Will\u2019s background in physical theatre saw him working with Jim Henson\u2019s Creature Shop in the 2005 film of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0371724\/\"><em>The Hitchhiker\u2019s Guide to the Galaxy<\/em><\/a>, and his creature work features in the 2016 release of major motion picture <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0918940\/\"><em>The Legend of Tarzan<\/em><\/a>. As an actor, and actor-musician playing sax and tin whistle, he has performed all over the country at all scales of theatre, and sang the role of the eponymous villain in Cherub Company\u2019s 2001 production of Hans Krasa\u2019s operatic fable <em>Brundib\u00e1r <\/em>(written two years after Prokofiev\u2019s musical tale).<\/p>\n<p>The performance will take place at 3pm.
