{"id":2794,"date":"2019-09-04T11:42:57","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T10:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2794"},"modified":"2019-09-04T11:42:57","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T10:42:57","slug":"british-academy-fund-walking-workshop-with-lavinia-brydon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/09\/04\/british-academy-fund-walking-workshop-with-lavinia-brydon\/","title":{"rendered":"British Academy fund walking workshop with Lavinia Brydon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following her participation in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk\/projects\/knowledge-frontiers-symposia\">UK-South Africa\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk\/projects\/knowledge-frontiers-symposia?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=fundingcall%20%7C%20knowledge-frontiers%20%7C%20%20%7C%20International&amp;utm_content=International&amp;utm_term=20190722\">Knowledge Frontiers Symposium<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/academic-staff\/brydon.html\">Dr Lavinia Brydon<\/a>, Lecturer in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/film.html\">Department of Film<\/a>,\u00a0has co-organised a walking workshop\u00a0to take place later\u00a0this month in Tshwane, South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Seed funded by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk\/\">British Academy<\/a>, Lavinia is working with colleagues from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.up.ac.za\/\">University of Pretoria<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwe.ac.uk\/\">University of the West of England\u00a0Bristol<\/a> as well as two community partners to explore how\u00a0arts-based approaches can\u00a0creatively re-imagine socio-urban space in the South African city.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is\u00a0structured\u00a0as a\u00a0walking and writing\u00a0tour of\u00a0Tshwane, with participants invited to\u00a0explore\u00a0the relationship between stories, storytelling and public\u00a0space. This includes examining literature and poetry about \u2013 and performed within \u2013 urban architecture.
