{"id":2339,"date":"2019-04-24T16:38:27","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T15:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2339"},"modified":"2019-05-22T13:46:10","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T12:46:10","slug":"comedy-and-mental-health-future-directions-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/04\/24\/comedy-and-mental-health-future-directions-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Comedy and Mental Health: Future Directions&#8217; conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0 Performance and Theatre Research Cluster and the Identities, Politics and the Arts Research Cluster in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/\">School of Arts<\/a> warmly invite you to conference entitled<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/newsandevents\/calendar.html?eid=37635&amp;view_by=day&amp;date=20190501&amp;category=&amp;tag=\"> &#8216;Comedy and Mental Health: Future Directions&#8217;<\/a> to be held at the University of Kent&#8217;s Canterbury campus on Wednesday 1 May 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The conference has been organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/assistant-and-associate-lecturers\/declerq.html\">Dr Dieter Declercq<\/a>,\u00a0Assistant Lecturer in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/film.html\">Film<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/media.html\">Media<\/a> in the School of Arts.<\/p>\n<p>At this event, eight speakers from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds will deliver short presentations on what they consider the most pressing questions and challenges for future research on mental health and comedy, especially stand-up comedy. The event is designed to stimulate further research into comedy and mental health by identify new research topics, exchanging methodological strategies and explore interdisciplinary and collaborative research.<\/p>\n<p>Sessions will include &#8216;Comedy, Humour and Mental Health.
