{"id":2327,"date":"2019-04-26T11:30:25","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T10:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2327"},"modified":"2019-05-22T13:47:05","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T12:47:05","slug":"call-for-contributions-for-inside-out-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/04\/26\/call-for-contributions-for-inside-out-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for contributions for \u2018Inside Out\u2019 symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Contributions are sought for a two day symposium as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/playingapartautisticgirls.org\/\">Playing A\/Part<\/a> research project, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/academic-staff\/shaughnessy.html\">Nicola Shaughnessy<\/a>, Professor of Performance in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/drama.html\">Department of Drama and Theatre<\/a>, and funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrc.ukri.org\/\">Arts and Humanities Research Council<\/a>, to be held at Kent on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 July 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium is titled \u2018Inside Out: Autistic Identities, Participatory Research and Gender\u2019. The first day will explore perspectives on participatory research practices, ethics and themes, and the second day will explore perspectives on gender and creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions are invited in the form of posters or creative artefacts from projects that engage with the symposium themes, issues and questions. These might include:<\/p>\n<p>Creative practices with autistic participants<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participatory research, neurodiversity and inclusive practices<\/li>\n<li>Ethical issues in participatory autism research<\/li>\n<li>Creative research methodologies and neurodiversity<\/li>\n<li>Gender, sexuality and neurodiversity<\/li>\n<li>Monotropism and related concepts<\/li>\n<li>Interdisciplinary and inclusive research outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you wish to contribute provide a 150 word abstract outlining the rationale, content and form of the work to be featured (whether a poster or creative artefact). Please send to <a href=\"mailto:playingapartconference@kent.ac.uk\">playingapartconference@kent.ac.uk<\/a> with the subject line \u2018Inside Out Proposal\u2019.
