{"id":2199,"date":"2019-03-21T14:25:06","date_gmt":"2019-03-21T14:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2199"},"modified":"2019-03-21T17:22:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-21T17:22:19","slug":"ma-theatre-festival-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/03\/21\/ma-theatre-festival-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"MA Theatre Festival 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/\">School of Arts<\/a> launched its MA Theatre Festival last night, comprising of two weeks of performances from students on our MA programmes in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/drama.html\">Department of Drama and Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The festival kicked off with <em>On Our Way<\/em> by Scorched Ensemble, a group undertaking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/277\/physical-acting\">MA in Physical Acting<\/a> programme, which explored the life changing journey of becoming a refugee. A gallery of images from the performance is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/unikentarts\/photos\/?tab=album&amp;album_id=2087113748009415\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday 25 March, there will be a rehearsed reading of an original play, <em>Sexcapades<\/em>, written by MA Theatre Making student Matthew Hessey. The play story about love and sex, and all the joy, despair, affirmation, rejection and hilarity each provides. The performance will be held in Jarman Studio 2. The performance provides an opportunity to be a fly on the wall in a room of pure unrest, the bedroom. To book, please see the Eventbrite page here: <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2HtHhLm\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/2HtHhLm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: The festival concludes on Monday 1 April with an adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman\u2019s short story <em>The Yellow Wallpaper<\/em> by students on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/1222\/theatre-making\">MA in Theatre Making<\/a>, held in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/timetabling\/rooms\/room.html?room=APHRA_Thea\">Aphra Theatre<\/a>. Please note this is a schedule change to the previously advertised performance on 21 March.
