{"id":2143,"date":"2019-03-12T17:10:11","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T17:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2143"},"modified":"2019-05-22T13:59:48","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T12:59:48","slug":"richard-misek-on-panel-about-race-and-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/03\/12\/richard-misek-on-panel-about-race-and-film\/","title":{"rendered":"Richard Misek on panel about race and film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/academic-staff\/misek.html\">Dr Richard Misek<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/film.html\">Film<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/\">School of Arts<\/a>, will take part in a panel discussion following a free screening of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt7389886\/\"><em>The Psychosis of Whiteness<\/em><\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/thegulbenkian.co.uk\/?start_date=&amp;end_date=\">The Gulbenkian<\/a> on Friday 22 March 2019 at 4.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Richard will feature in a cross-disciplinary panel of contributors including the director, Dr Eugene Nulman, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/staff\/profiles\/marsh.html\">Dr Ben Marsh<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/index.html\">School of History<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/staff\/canterbury\/devellennes.html\">Dr Charles Devellennes<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/index.html\">School of Politics and International Relations<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr\/staff\/academic\/n-r\/rajan-rankin-sweta.html\">Dr Sweta Rajan-Rankin<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/sspssr\/index.html\">School of Social Policy, Sociology, and Social Research<\/a>), and Carol Stewart, Chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macacharity.org.uk\/\">Medway African &amp; Caribbean Association<\/a> (MACA).<\/p>\n<p><em>The Psychosis of Whiteness<\/em> sheds light on society\u2019s perceptions of race and racism by exploring cinematic representations of the slave trade.
