{"id":2073,"date":"2019-02-27T14:39:41","date_gmt":"2019-02-27T14:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=2073"},"modified":"2019-03-01T15:42:13","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T15:42:13","slug":"ktv-film-festival-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2019\/02\/27\/ktv-film-festival-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"KTV Film Festival 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five students from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/index.html\">School of Arts<\/a> will have their own directorial features showcased at the forthcoming KTV Film Festival 2019, to be held in <a href=\"https:\/\/thegulbenkian.co.uk\/\">The Gulbenkian<\/a> cinema on Saturday 16 March 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KentTelevision\">KTV, Kent Union\u2019s television station<\/a>, and is independent of any curricular film practice. The festival aims to showcase the outstanding talent of student filmmakers at Kent.<\/p>\n<p>The films by School of Arts students include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Steps of Detachment<\/em>, directed by Elliot Bowden, who is studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/165\/film-and-drama\">BA (Hons) in Film and Drama<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Cigarettes and Alcohol<\/em>, directed by Alfie Court who is also studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/165\/film-and-drama\">BA (Hons) in Film and Drama<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>You Won&#8217;t Remember Me<\/em>, directed by Victor Blaho who is studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/101\/film-with-a-year-abroad\">BA (Hons) in Film with an Approved Year Abroad<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Sending to the Sea<\/em>, directed by Iris Perovi\u0107 who is studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/165\/film-and-drama\">BA (Hons) in Film and Drama<\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>Sweet Child of Mine<\/em>, directed by Tyler Hamblin, who is studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/99\/film\">BA (Hons) in Film<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SECL student Dominic Taylor, who is studying on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/351\/religious-studies-and-philosophy\">BA (Hons) in Religious Studies and Philosophy<\/a>, has also directed a contribution entitled <em>Waiting for Certainty<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The filmmakers have dedicated weeks of their time to adhere to each of the key components of filmmaking, giving them the opportunity to use skills vital in the film industry and to tell sophisticated stories. The festival aims to be a celebration of film, friends and fulfilment, as well as a chance to hear from our directors themselves and learn about their experiences on set.
