{"id":1698,"date":"2018-10-11T17:41:55","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T16:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/?p=1698"},"modified":"2019-05-22T14:18:16","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T13:18:16","slug":"kaitlyn-regehr-discusses-the-metoo-movement-on-trt-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/2018\/10\/11\/kaitlyn-regehr-discusses-the-metoo-movement-on-trt-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaitlyn Regehr discusses the #MeToo movement on TRT World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/people\/academic-staff\/regehr.html\">Dr Kaitlyn Regehr<\/a>, Lecturer in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/media.html\">Media Studies<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/arts\/\">School of Arts<\/a>, was interviewed <span style=\"float: none;background-color: transparent;color: #333333;cursor: text;font-family: 'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,'Nimbus Sans L',sans-serif;font-size: 15px;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;font-weight: 300;letter-spacing: normal;text-align: left;text-decoration: none;text-indent: 0px\">yesterday<\/span> on <em>Showcase<\/em>, the arts and culture programme broadcast on news channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trtworld.com\/\">TRT World<\/a>, regarding the #MeToo movement.<\/p>\n<p>TRT World is a Turkish international news channel, broadcasting in English.<\/p>\n<p>The interview concerned the first year anniversary of the #MeToo movement, which started when the actress Alyssa Milano used the hashtag on Twitter in response to the allegations of sexual assault and harassment of film producer Harvey Weinstein.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, Kaitlyn relates the impact of the term: \u2018On 15 October 2017, the term \u201cMe Too\u201d was used 12 million times on just one day, and from there we saw a real revolution of social change come forth.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Does Kaitlyn consider whether the movement has led to social change? \u2018I think it depends on how we define change. Has it changed social policy change?
