The collections are vast, covering all areas of live performance \u2013 from theatre, opera and ballet, to music hall and musical theatre, circus, puppetry, and rock and pop.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Departmental activity is divided into curatorial work (based at Blythe House, Olympia) and exhibitions, publications and potential web-content (based at V&amp;A South Kensington).<\/li>\n<li>Exhibitions-based work includes the development of the permanent Theatre and Performance<\/li>\n<li>Galleries at the V&amp;A and a broad programme of special exhibitions, both at the V&amp;A and on tour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Voluntary Work Experience Placements and Training: Exhibitions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Exhibitions side of the Department offers a small number of volunteer and graduate placements, for career development, training and research.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteers assist with research and interpretation, exhibition development, publications, potential web content and other outputs.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers have access to professional development training and experience, both at the V&amp;A and at other relevant institutions and organisations in London, such as theatres, museums and other arts institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Work is varied and rewarding, and allows volunteers to contribute to the work of one of the UK\u2019s flagship cultural institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The next placements will be within the period from 10 October 2016 \u2013 March\/April 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please note that if you are specifically interested in curatorial expertise, you can contact <a href=\"mailto:tmenquiries@vam.ac.uk\">tmenquiries@vam.ac.uk<\/a> to enquire about placements in departmental collections management operations at Blythe House.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the application form in the link below and then send this to <a href=\"mailto:t.applications@vam.ac.uk\">t.applications@vam.ac.uk<\/a> \u00a0The deadline for applications is <strong>11 September 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/arts-news\/files\/2016\/08\/VA-Department-of-Theatre-and-Performance-Volunteer-Opportunities-Autumn-2016.pdf\">VA Department of Theatre and Performance Volunteer Opportunities Autumn 2016<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The V&amp;A Department of Theatre and Performance contains the UK\u2019s National Collection of Performing Arts.
