We get to choose the face we present to the world. What do these choices we make say about our identities? Are we always hiding behind a mask, or do we use these masks to unveil our true selves?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout history, masks have been used for both purposes: some protect and hide us while others reveal our innermost world. Masks also bring attention to the causes we stand for and aid in the traditions we follow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>Unveiled<\/em> explores the use of masks and facial distortion as a means of personal expression in identity, activism, and ceremonial traditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/canterburymuseums.co.uk\/events\/unveiled\/\">The Beaney<\/a> for the first time, <em>Unveiled<\/em> is curated by the University of Kent MA Curating programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The curators of <em>Unveiled<\/em> are (from left to right): Rachel Henkels, Michelle Fehr, Soriya Labovitch, Danhee Park, Abigail Fakoya and (not pictured) Leanne Yore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-807\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/artistry\/files\/2022\/07\/FWlTEPsXoAAzMF2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3871\" height=\"2581\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-808\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/artistry\/files\/2022\/07\/Unveiled-invitation.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"1007\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every photo we take comes with the option to edit and filter our image.
