I have a particular interest in late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth century political history, so the Age of Revolution provides many avenues to explore!

I am currently working with the Bowes Museum in Teesdale to produce a range of content centred on Napoleon, reflecting on the impact he made and the legacy he left behind. Working with staff at Bowes, we are aiming to create a workshop that can be run at the museum and an object box that can form the basis for lessons in schools; we are also looking into some exciting possibilities for digital content to supplement and enhance students’ understanding of Napoleon and the importance of his actions.

In pursuing this aspect of the project, I have had the opportunity to visit the Bowes Museum for a week, which was hugely beneficial both in terms of developing content and aiding my own understanding of how the museum goes about planning and delivering workshops and the associated content. Working with the different departments to start to piece together what our particular project might look like was fantastic, and being there and seeing objects that might be usable and talking to the people that will help bring it all together was incredibly helpful.

I will continue to work with the Bowes Museum to the initial completion of the Napoleon programme, and I hope to remain a part of the wider Age of Revolution project as I pursue my studies at the University of Kent.

Blogs……

Bowes Museum, June 2018

Bowes Museum, November 2018 workshops

I’m currently taking the Imperial History Master’s at Kent and will be beginning a PhD under the supervision of Dr Ambrogio Caiani, who is also involved with the Age of Revolution project, in September of 2018.
