\u2705 Pack up your belongings –\u00a0<\/strong>Take all your important items with you or arrange for them to be stored or donated by 10am on your departure day<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u2705 Arrange storage or shipping for your belongings –<\/strong>If you\u2019re not taking everything with you, explore local or national storage and shipping services<\/a> to keep your items safe until you return home or move to your next place.<\/p>\n \u2705 Donate unwanted items – <\/strong>If you have clothes, books, or electronics you no longer need, consider donating them to Kent Union\u2019s STUFF<\/strong><\/a> initiative or use the British Heart Foundation<\/a> donation banks<\/strong> across campus. You can find your nearest location using our bins and recycling map<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2705 Avoid damage when moving out – <\/strong>Take care when removing items from walls or furniture to avoid causing damage – for example, adhesive LED light strips can lift paint. Repair costs for any damage may be charged to your account.<\/p>\n \u2705Update your postal address – <\/strong>Make sure to update your address with anyone or any company that sends you mail, including your bank, phone provider, and online retailers<\/strong>. Even if you\u2019re returning to campus accommodation next year, we\u2019re unable to accept or forward mail for students not currently in residence. You can also check the Post Office\u2019s mail redirection service<\/strong><\/a> for more guidance.<\/p>\n \u2705 Switch off and unplug<\/strong> \u2013 Turn off and unplug all electricals (except the fridge).<\/p>\n \u2705 Clear out your food<\/strong> \u2013 Empty your bin and remove all food from your fridge – no one enjoys dealing with lumpy milk! Non-perishables like tins or dried goods can be donated at the Mandela Building<\/strong> or Kent Union Building (Woody\u2019s)<\/strong> in Park Wood.<\/p>\n Not sure how to clean up before you leave? Check out our handy cleaning videos on YouTube!<\/strong><\/p>\n \ud83d\udc49 Bedroom and washroom cleaning<\/strong><\/a> \u2705 Secure your room<\/strong> \u2013 Close all windows (leave the vent open), lock your doors, and collect any post or parcels before you go.<\/p>\n \u2705 Return your key or fob<\/strong> \u2013 Hand these in at reception before you leave.
