Applying for student accommodation doesn’t need to be daunting, at Kent we’ve made the process of applying for your student room on campus as easy as possible.
All You Need to Know:
Applications open every year in mid-January for the academic year you’re applying for. To secure guaranteed accommodation, firmly accept your offer to study at Kent by 31 March 2025 and apply for accommodation by the same date to guarantee your first choice of room style. Whether you prefer an en-suite, shared shower and kitchen facilities, or a room with a meal plan, we have the perfect option for you at Canterbury to make your university experience just right.
Don’t worry if you miss this first deadline of 31 March 2025 though. All students who apply to Canterbury or Medway by 30 June 2025 are guaranteed on-campus accommodation (off-site at Pier Quays for Medway students), provided you are a full-time student.
Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you apply, the better your chances of securing your preferred accommodation. You can update your application anytime before 14 July without affecting your original submission date. Plus, there are no cancellation fees before accepting an offer!

Apply online through the MyAccommodation Portal, found on the University of Kent Accommodation website.
Getting Started:
- Register with your surname, date of birth, and Kent Applicant ID number (found on University emails)
- Use your personal email address to ensure you receive updates over the summer
- Keep your login details safe—you’ll need them to edit your application or accept your offer
While you may see private rental listings online, only the University of Kent provides official on-campus accommodation with added benefits like included Sports Membership and a guaranteed offer for eligible students.
KMMS (Kent and Medway Medical School) and MPharm students should apply through their dedicated links:
All students planning to start at Kent in September can apply for accommodation from January of that year.
Eligibility:
- Firm and insurance choice applicants
- First-year and returning students
- Guaranteed offers for full-time students who apply by 31 March or 30 June
- Medway students are guaranteed an en-suite room in Pier Quays
If you’re applying through Clearing, request accommodation as part of your Clearing application, rather than via the MyAccommodation Portal.
You’ll be asked to select four room choices in order of preference. You can change these as often as you like until 14 July—but remember, only two can be en-suite options.
