image_400x400Professor Richard G. Whitman is an ESRC Senior Research Fellow on the project The UK in a Changing Europe, which has been established to provide rigorous, high-quality and independent research into the complex and ever changing relationship between the UK and the European Union (EU).

Professor Whitman is undertaking independent research for the project ‘The interrelationship of UK and EU foreign policy: costs and benefits’. This site will provide an updated platform for the research outputs of this project, including independent policy papers and commentary pieces.

He is Professor of Politics and International Relations in the School of Politics and International Relations, and Director of the Global Europe Centre. Professor Whitman is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House (formerly known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs) and an Academic Fellow at the European Policy Centre.

Professor Whitman is a regular media commentator, working with print and broadcast media at home and overseas. He has been interviewed widely on Europe and European integration. Recent coverage has included BBC radio and television, CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, Newsweek, Reuters, the International Herald Tribune and the Wall Street Journal.
