Centre for Professional Practice takes part in Dentistry Show 2016

The University’s Centre for Professional Practice took part in the Dentistry Show 2016 in Birmingham on 22-23 April.

The Dentistry Show is one of the largest professional events focusing on advancing the skills, gaining CPD and making new professional connections. More than 400 dental manufacturers, suppliers and education providers were present on the bursting trade floor, offering fantastic exclusive deals on the latest products, materials and services.

Debbie Reed, the Head of the Centre for Professional Practice, said: ‘The show went brilliantly. I was delighted that so many people were so enthusiastic about the CPP programmes – MSc in Applied Dental Professional Practice and BA/BSC Top-Up in Professional Practice. Both part-time programmes are designed and accessible for working dental professionals. It really helped that the government have announced the opportunity for part-time post-graduate students to finance their study via the student loan system’.

Sam Hogg, MSc Applied Dental Professional Practice student, was inundated with delegates interested to hear more about her experience. The people Sam spoke to appeared really pleased to hear just how ‘possible’ achieving an academic award is for those employed full and part-time in dental practice.

Jane Dalgarno, the President of British Association of Dental Nurses and MSc Applied Dental Professional Practice student, was very supportive of her own experience and highlighted how academic study and qualifications are critical to sustaining the professionalisation journey for all the dental care professions.
