Student Spotlight | Shaun Warren – BSc Mathematics with a Year in Industry

Shaun Warren is currently studying BSc Mathematics with a Year in Industry at Kent.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Kent?

I chose to study at the University of Kent for the lovely way the campus looks and because I really like Canterbury. Also, Kent is ranked relatively highly.

What is the best thing about studying in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science?

The best thing about studying in the School is the support I receive from all of my lecturers as well as the placement officers and employability team.

What has been your favourite topic/module on your course?

My favourite module so far has been Linear Algebra.

What have you found most interesting on your course?

In Number Theory we learned about cryptography and I found that the most interesting topic on my course so far.

Have you found the School to be supportive? If so, how has the School supported you?

Every lecturer is more than willing to arrange the time to help me when needed. Also the placement officers have been very helpful when I’ve been applying for work placements.

What do you think of the Sibson Building? What do you think the Building means for students within the School?

The Sibson Building is very nice looking and well laid out. There’s lots of study space. The Sibson Building means that example classes will be easier due to the new layout of lecture theatres, also all of the lecturers can be found in one building now which is easier.

Can you sum up your course in three words?

Challenging. Enjoyable. Beneficial.

Would you recommend studying at Kent?

Of course, I would definitely recommend studying at Kent!
