Welcome to the blog of the Sciences team in the Templeman Library. This site has been created to keep all members of the sciences departments across the university up to date with what is going on in the library, new purchases in your subjects, what we are up to as a team, and when we are coming to visit (and anything else that we think is interesting or useful!).
On the right hand side of the page, you can see different categories, and as the blog posts build up, you can use these options to restrict the blog posts to only those that affect your subjects. In this menu there is also an RSS feed running that shows just some of the items we have bought recently in the science subjects!
Meet the team
Roz Bass- Faculty Librarian (Sciences and Research Support)
Roz started her career in archives. She then worked for many years for PSSRU, assisting with literature searches, running their small library, managing their research outputs and encouraging the use of social media. She has been the Academic Liaison Librarian for SECL and, more recently, managed the institutional repository at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Karen Goodwin – Sciences Liaison Librarian
I joined the Sciences faculty team in December 2015 as the academic liaison librarian. Prior to coming to the University of Kent , I worked as a liaison librarian at Canterbury Christ Church University covering a broad remit of social and applied sciences. I am very much enjoying working with academic colleagues and students to promote access to the extensive range of science electronic and print resources available at Kent. We are always keen to receive suggestions for resources to further enhance the sciences collection so please send your recommendations through to us!
David Bedford – Academic Support Librarian (Medway Campus)
I have been one of the librarians at the Drill Hall Library in Medway since January 2011. I support the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, as well as a number of other Schools from the 3 Universities on the Medway campus, which makes my life very interesting (if sometimes a little confusing). I am the campus champion for the reading lists system and am particularly interested in information literacy and improving access to research.
Suzanne Duffy – Senior Library Assistant, Kent Academic Repository Manager
I am the oldest member of the Science team, in more ways than one! The library has changed in so many ways since I first started working here. We are constantly developing new services and technology to improve the student experience, and the Sciences team are actively developing the library collection for all our students. I also work with Kent Academic Repository, the University’s Institutional Repository, an Open Access database showcasing the outputs of its researchers.
Nikki Gregory – Library Assistant
I was a student at the University from 2006 to 2013! Now I am a member of the Science and Research team. I am the queen of book orders, if you want it I will try and acquire it for you.. within reason.
My background is in medieval history, but I am slowing getting to grips with the vast array of science requirements. I also work on the Kent Academic Repository with Suzanne, and have to remind myself not to sit and read all of the interesting research that comes our way.
