SoccerZone Cup

On Friday 2 June, eighteen teams attended the final SoccerZone Cup of the year, Kent Sport’s on campus 5 a-side football tournament.

The eighteen teams battled it out over the group stage to secure a place in the cup knockout stages with the bottom half of each group progressing to the plate knockout stages, think Champions league and Europa league.

In the plate final, new team Woolf FC, from ICFL, faced AFC Spartans Reserves.

Woolf FC had finished joint top in their group however a worse goal difference saw them progress into the plate competition. Spartans Reserves finished fourth in the same group with only one win.

However, Spartans Reserves saved all their goal scoring prowess for the knock out stage, winning all their games including the final against Woolf FC.

In the cup final, Ain’t No Holebas Girl, from KAFL, faced Hold My Beer FC, also from KAFL. Ain’t No Holebas Girl topped their group, conceding only one goal whilst Hold My Beer finished second.

However a dramatic final saw Hold My Beer walk away with another trophy after winning the KAFL plate final a week earlier.

Congratulations to all teams for making the final and Hold My Beer FC and AFC Spartans Reserves for  walking away with the trophies.
