Canterbury’s C25K sessions are in full swing

Rolling into halfway mark of Kent Sport Couch to 5K (C25K) running group, the group are looking on top form already.

Each term, a 12-week course is available to beginners to gently ease those thigh muscle from walking to running in the hopes to be able to run a 5K towards the end! Kent Sport also offers improvers and immediate running groups once beginners have completed their C25K course.

Vicky, a University staff member, who joined the C25K in January said: ‘After returning to running after having a baby four months ago, the Couch to 5K really has motivated me to attend an organised session. I’ve also signed up to Xercise Factor as additional motivation to getting active.’

Karen Drake, Kent Sport Development Manager, joins in too ensuring everyone is enjoying the experience as well as getting the most out of it. ‘The participants are all enjoying the motivation of a friendly group-led session delivered by our dedicated Run Leader, Barry, who sets achievable progressive targets each week and really motivates the participants, adapting to all abilities to ensure they can reach the final goal of running continuously for the distance of 5K at week 12 of the programme.’

New participants are more than welcome to come along and join the sessions, just turn up at the Sports Centre Reception 12pm on Wednesdays. Free for Gold and Silver members or £1 Bronze membership and £1 per session.
