CES services over the summer term

The Careers and Employability Service will be open and running all its usual services throughout the summer term – while you will no doubt be focusing on revising for your exams, don’t neglect your employability plans for the future! – and they have asked all schools to highlight the following activities and events running during May and June:

15 minute quick advice appointments

In order to streamline some of the services offered by the Careers and employability and look at staff efficiency, the drop in service has been reviewed and has now been replaced with bookable quick advice appointments. Students can now book a 15 minute appointment for feedback on CV’s, application forms, cover letters and personal statements and advice on job hunting and interviews.  Appointments are available during the following times: Monday-Friday 10.30am-12.30pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm. This new service is a pilot and reviewed after a period of time to ensure it is working for both students and staff.

Summer Events – you can see details about this on Target Connect and the University events calendar

The Careers and Employability Service have planned a programme of Employability events for the Summer Term. Entitled ‘Don’t Panic Bootcamps’ these will run in weeks 26, 28 and 30 and are aimed at students who will be graduating but who haven’t secured employment or students who want to try and gain work experience over the summer months

The programme will cover the following:

  • Career choice / Targeting employers
  • CVs and applications – bookable 30 mins feedback sessions
  • LinkedIn
  • Assessment Centre practice
  • Interview Skills
  • Psychometric testing

The Careers and Employability Service stand can also be found on Tuesday and Thursdays from 12-2pm on the Plaza to offer support, information or advice and to answer any questions about our services.  Come and say ‘hi’!
