kent su logoThe University has a strong tradition of involving students in every level of its decision-making and outreach programmes, and the School of History particularly has been supported by dedicated and hard-working student representatives and ambassadors.

Student Representatives

Student representatives are elected by their peers to represent their degree programme at School and University committees, asking students’ concerns and questions, and presenting student opinion on topics under discussion. Student representatives are training by Kent Union, and the hours spent on representative business can be logged as volunteering hours.

Representing your peers is an excellent way to support the School and improve the way we run your degree programme. For more information about how you can stand for election and why you should, go to Kent Union’s website at http://www.kentunion.co.uk/representation/coursereps/.

Student Ambassadors

If you came to visit the University at any point before you began your degree, you were likely guided around the campus by a student ambassador. Ambassadors are current undergraduate and postgraduate students who are paid by the University and by the School to support our outreach and recruitment efforts. They work on Open and Applicant Days, guiding visiting applicants around the campus and speaking to them about life at Kent, and they go off-campus to visit partner schools and colleges to speak to A-level students and others about studying at university.

Working as a student ambassador can be a rewarding way to earn some additional money, and can help you improve your own ability to discuss your degree and University in preparation for graduate job applications and interviews. You can find out more information about the Student Ambassador Scheme at http://www.kent.ac.uk/ambassadors/.
