Collections Management

11 month fixed term contract / 21 hours per week / Bursary £ 8,198

Canterbury Cathedral is pleased to offer a unique 11 month internship opportunity assisting the Collections Manager in the delivery of the Cathedral’s Collection Management Plan, new interpretation, exhibitions and online access to collections.

The intern will develop and learn skills necessary to work with historic collections within the unique setting of Canterbury Cathedral. The role includes a wide range of opportunities, such as providing administrative support, object handling and basic assessment, working with and managing volunteers, delivering presentations, collections documentation and research, photography, working with digital assets and an overview of basic collections management skills

This internship is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and would be suitable to people who have graduated in the last 2 years specialising in museum or heritage management, curation or fine art studies, art history or history, have limited work experience and would like to develop their practical collection management skills.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications: Thursday 6th September 2018

Community Engagement

Canterbury Cathedral is pleased to offer a unique 11 month internship opportunity assisting the Community Engagement Manager in the successful planning, management, delivery and evaluation of an innovative and creative community engagement programme of activities.

The intern will play a vital role in creating a two way dialogue and positive relationships between the Cathedral and the wider community through engaging new, diverse, young and hard-to-reach audiences with the Cathedral’s heritage and collections.  You will contribute in the delivery of outreach activities including the interpretation of heritage and collections, the final stage development of a new Loan Box Scheme and Explorer Backpacks, new online learning resources, creative activities and projects.

The role includes a wide range of opportunities, such as providing administrative support, working with and managing volunteers, delivering events and activities both at the Cathedral and in outreach locations, whilst gaining an overview of basic community engagement management skills

This internship is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and would be suitable to people who have graduated in the last 2 years specialising in learning, community engagement, heritage management, Humanities, Tourism, art history or history, have limited work experience and would like to develop their practical community engagement management skills.
