Native North Americans in Kent

Professor David Stirrup talks to KMTV about the presence of Native North Americans in the county over the past 450 years.

On Wednesday 1st of November, Professor David Stirrup – principal investigator on ‘Beyond the Spectacle’ – spoke to KMTV about the history of Native North American presence in Kent, including the time which Pocahontas spent in Gravesend.

The project looks to document all forms of Native North American travel across the Atlantic, whether it resulted in return trips, onward movement into Europe, or even long-term residence in Britain.

Anyone who thinks they may have information of interest is asked to visit the project website at http://research.kent.ac.uk/beyondthespectacle.
