Humanities for Hire: a two week series to help you with your future careers

The School of English is participating in a series of events, now in its second year, called Humanities for Hire. The series has been designed to help Humanities students to start thinking about their future career and to encourage them to develop their employability skills whilst they are at university.

The two week series runs from 6-17 March on the Canterbury campus. The full list of events can be viewed here.

Students need to book on to each event, of which some have a limited capacity – so please book as soon as possible.

The School of English is hosting three events which might be of interest:

Tuesday 7 March: 9-12.30pm

Time Management workshop

This course aims to improve your understanding of what time management is, your ability to manage your own time and the expectations of others. The session is very interactive and students will be involved in discussions, exercises and problem solving mini-projects.

Tuesday 7 March: 1.30pm-5pm

Personal Effectiveness workshop

This course will provide you with practical tools and techniques to manage yourself and effectively interact with others. The session is very interactive and students will be involved in discussions, exercises and problem solving mini-projects.

Wednesday 15 March: 2-4pm

Humanities for Hire: Writing for a Living Panel

Do you want to write for a living? Come and hear from our expert panel of professional authors and journalists. Chaired by Dragan Todorovic author and Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Kent. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session. Refreshments will be available after the event.
