Support your fellow Kent alumni this Christmas as they take part in BBC Two’s special Christmas alumni edition of University Challenge.
The popular show usually sees teams of students pitting their wits against each other for bragging rights as the most intelligent university quiz team. In a twist on the usual format, this series will see alumni represent each university. The episodes will be broadcast from 20 December and the Kent team is:
Fi Glover (D87) Classical Civilisation and Philosophy, BBC journalist
Rebecca Lenkiewicz (D86) English and Film Studies, Playwright
Dr Robert Wade (E80) Film Studies and English, Screenwriter (Skyfall, Casino Royale)
James Wong (E04) MSc Ethnobotany, Horticulturalist and TV presenter.
On Sunday 8th December 2013, Natalie Salunke (Eliot 2002), Rachel Hearn (Keynes 2006) and Daniel Malynn (Keynes 2007) got into the festive spirit by donning Santa outfits to take part in a Santa Run in London’s Victoria Park. Along with 3,000 other Santas, they raced around the 5km course and were delighted to receive a medal once they crossed the finish line. As a team, they raised over £1,000 for the Kent Law Campaign. We thank them for their support and wish them a very merry Christmas!
As the University’s 50th anniversary approaches, we’re looking for your help with our ‘We are Kent’ campaign.
The campaign is a celebration of all of the people who are part of the University of Kent community and what makes us unique. It aims to identify the vast community of alumni, which stretches across the globe, our staff and current students through a photographic gallery in which we all celebrate the fact that ‘We are Kent’!
We hope to get as many people as possible from all over the world to make their mark with Kent and take part in the campaign. The gallery will be hosted on our dedicated 50th anniversary website and the images will be used throughout our 50th anniversary year to help celebrate our Kent community.
To join in, download an ‘I am Kent’ or ‘We are Kent’ board from our website and take a photo in a location of your choice. Send your photos to email@example.com along with your name, relationship to the University and year of entry if you are a student or alumnus.
Please note that by submitting your photo you agree for the University to make use of the image in any 50th anniversary publication, social media, or on our website.
