Studying Cultural Criminology at Kent

The University of Kent is the world’s leading institution for the study of cultural criminology. It is also renowned as a leading international centre of excellence for the study of sociological criminology, penology, criminal justice, victimology, and gender and crime. Recently the criminology team at Kent built on existing expertise in the field of crime and media by developing new courses and programs in visual criminology and crime and documentary filmmaking, the only such courses available in Europe.

More generally, in terms of research culture, the School of Social Policy, Sociology, and Social Research was recently ranked 6* (the highest possible score) in the 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework for its research output and environment.

The criminology team at the University of Kent is also very proud of its international links. We currently have undergraduate and postgraduate exchange opportunities at San Diego State University, Hamburg University, Erasmus University [Rotterdam], Ghent University, Hong Kong University, and Utrecht University.
