“Enhancing Climate Diplomacy in a Changing Political Environment”

New Opportunities for Cooperation among International Organisations on Climatic Threats to International, National, Human and Environmental Security

Brussels – 20 November 2017

On behalf of the participating organisations in the Brussels Dialogue on Climate Diplomacy and our partner organisations * we are pleased to invite you to the international conference on “Enhancing Climate Diplomacy in a Changing Political Environment” to be held at the ACP Secretariat in Brussels on Monday, 20 November 2017.

In this first event of its kind in Brussels after the UN climate conference in Bonn in November key issues to be examined include:

What will be the likely effects of the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement on the international community’s increasing concern about the security impacts of climate change and other environmental challenges?

What more can be done to enhance cooperation and coordination among regional and international organisations to better address the security threats posed by climate change?

What is the proper role for the military and security community in preparing for and responding to the impacts of climate change?

The conference programme includes presentations and discussions among high level speakers from Asia, Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, North America and the Pacific including from the United Nations, NATO, OSCE and the European Union as well as several governments, think-tanks and NGOs.

Visit the BDCD website to download the conference brochure and programme and for regular updates.

Participation in the conference is free and by personal invitation only.

We hope you will join us in Brussels for this important event.

Sincerely yours,

Ronald A. Kingham, Director, Environment & Development Resource Centre
