Revisiting the battlefields of WW1

There are a limited number of places on a visit to the First World War battlefields around Ypres on Monday 26 June 2017, an area which experienced some of the most intense fighting of the war.  During the day you will be guided by Dr Michael Palo, a history professor with detailed knowledge of the First World War.  You will learn about the human cost as well as the political impact of the war, and discover how those experiences have shaped the Europe of today.

 The trip will feature a visit to the In Flanders Field Museum and several key sites that include:

–          Langemark | German military cemetery

–          Tyne Cot | The largest Commonwealth cemetery

–          Menin Gate | The Last Post Ceremony was established in 1927 to honour fallen soldiers. It has taken place every evening at Menin Gate since then

by Thursday 22 June 2017 at 5pm if you would like to attend. You will then be sent an itinerary and short form to fill in as well as payment instructions.

The total cost of the trip is €35 and includes the following:

–          Transport | Includes return journey from Brussels to Ypres, and all sites throughout the day. Transport is via coach.

–          Guide | Specialised commentary by Dr Michael Palo and Martine Delsemme

–          Lunch

–          Museum entrance the In Flanders Field Museum
